ACB's "Sapphires"

From an idea suggested by Claude Arpels of Van Cleef and Arpels, Balanchine created the first full length plotless ballet in 1967, revolutionizing the dance . Its theme was simple and beautiful — jewels. Emeralds, to the music of Gabriel Fauré, Rubies, to the music of Igor Stravinsky, and Diamonds, to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. But Balanchine originally intended a fourth act: Sapphires, to the music of 20th century giant Arnold Schoenberg.

For the worldwide celebration of Arnold Schoenberg's 150th birthday in 2024, ACB imagined what this jewel might have looked like, including costumes designed in line with the genius Barbara Karinska’s original concepts, and the exaltation of feminine beauty that was the ballet’s true subject.

The Culver Project

The Culver Project: A Hometown Metropolis will be a photo-book that welcomes readers on a journey through the metamorphosis of Culver City from simple hometown beginnings into a thriving and vibrant community-centered metropolis. For nearly a decade, we’ve watched Culver City evolve rapidly before our eyes, yet the deep rooted community that makes Culver home remains intact and cherished. This project pays homage to the late Berenice Abbott, a revolutionary photographer that captured the evolution of New York City in the late 1920s and 30s.

Our goal for this project is to artistically document the evolution of modern day Culver City, pay homage and tribute to the history of Culver and show appreciation for the community that makes this big, little city feel like home.  We received a grant from the Culver City Arts program in November 2023.

Grayland is ever-changing dunes, cold sand, strong wind. The Washington Coastline never ceases to be a home away from home, a place for family and reflection.

Skate

Skateparks have evolved into one of my favorite spots for observation. Among all subjects, capturing individuals in their element, engaged in what brings them joy, is what I enjoy photographing the most.
